An Architectural Technologist by background, with a strong track record of providing Information Management consultancy, Fiona currently oversees the technical delivery of the Government & Industry Interoperability Group (GIIG). The GIIG focuses on solving the practical implementation of interoperability, namely ‘the ability of two or more systems to securely exchange information and to use the information that has been exchanged’, without which the value of BIM / Information Management cannot be realised. Fiona feels very privileged to have played a small part in driving the adoption of BIM in the UK. She has achieved this by being a strategic thinker, a pragmatist, and a good communicator. She is someone who thrives on debate with the aim of reaching consensus, and if consensus is not achievable, then she will at the very least help move the discussion forward, with the aim of achieving real long-term progress and value.
